The project of the acronym LIFENaturaSlowinskaPL is being carried out in the north-western part of the Pomeranian Province, in the areas of Natura2000 PLB220003 Pobrzeże Słowińskie and PLH220023 Ostoja Słowińska whose boundaries almost completely coincide with the borders of the Słowiński National Park.This area is a part of the international network of biosphere reserves (MaB), and is also covered by the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands whose aim is a protection of water and marsh areas being of international importance, especially as waterfowl life environment. In the framework of HELCOM a 2-mile zone of the Baltic Sea is also covered with protection.
The area of the project includes the eastern shore and land facilities of the Gardno Lake (polders: Gardna IX and Gardna X) and a fragment of the Łupawa river valley situated to the South of the Smołdzino village. This area was marked on the following map:
